Flame vine grows in full sun or partial shade and they love to grow in rich soil. You can grow them by cuttings in any season, but vines grow best in the rainy season from cuttings. The flame bloom in the winter months, usually in January and February. It is a subtropical plant that can grow in the U.S. Zones 9 to 11.

You will need

  • Container
  • Potting mix soil
  • Water
  • Gloves
  • Rooting hormone powder
  • Flame vine cuttings
  • Scissor or any cutting tool

How to grow

  • Wear gloves.
  • Make a drainage hole in the container.
  • Fill the potting mix soil in it.
  • With the help of a scissor or any cutting tool, Gently cut the stem from the plant. Two or three stems are enough for a container.
  • Now, make two holes with fingers, 3 inches deep and 2 inches wide.
  • Remove all the leaves instead of the top four to five leaves.
  • Dip stem nodes in the rooting hormone powder.
  • Now, put the node of stems in the holes, like one stem in one hole.
  • Cover the holes with some additional potting mix soil.
  • Water the stems, and keep the container in the sunlight source.

Once the new leaves come, then give the support to vines, you can give trellis, fence, and wall support to the vines.

Things you need

  • Gloves
  • Water
  • Soil Digger
  • Rooting hormone powder
  • Fertile potting mix soil
  • Scissor or any stem cutting tool
  • Flame vine cuttings

How to grow

  • Wear gloves.
  • Choose the place where you want to grow the vine. Flame vines climb well to walls, fences, and trellis, so choose the place where vine getting support.
  • With the help of, soil digger make two holes at a distance, 3 inches deep and 2 inches wide. If your garden soil is not fertile then use some additional certified potting mix.
  • Now, take the cuttings from the vine, cut the healthy and thick stem from the plant. The length of the stem must be 6 to 7 inches.
  • Remove all the leaves from the stems instead of 2 to 4 top leaves.
  • Dip stems node in the rooting hormone powder.
  • Now, put the node of the cuttings in the holes, like one cutting in one hole.
  • Cover the holes with some additional potting mix soil.
  • Water the stems. Give regular water every morning.

After planting the cuttings you need to do care, give water every morning, just the soil should be wet. Once the new leaves come, apply manure into the soil. At last, don’t forget to give support to the vines.
